Arts and Crafts America
The Arts and Crafts Movement spread around much of the world in fine arts, decorative arts, practical crafts, and architecture. It promoted traditional craftsmanship with simple forms. Medieval, romantic, and folk styles often featured in its decorations. It advocated economic and social reforms, generally opposing industrial and mass-production approaches. The Arts and Crafts Movement began in Britain, flourished in Europe and America, and eventually reached Japan. It spanned roughly the 1880s through 1920s.
This setting explores a world in which that movement never ended. People generally turn to art for problem-solving and comfort as well as entertainment. It forms a major part of the cultures. Some poems are about major works of art or events in the art world. Others are about how individuals use arts and crafts to improve their own lives.
