The Silk Road Allies is a shared world originally created by Elizabeth Barrette (ysabetwordsmith), Marina Bonomi (marina_bonomi), and Stefanie Maclin (thesilentpoet). Read more about them in the contributor bios below, and watch for new people to appear as the project continues to grow.
Elizabeth Barrette (ysabetwordsmith)
Elizabeth Barrette grew up in a house full of books and two teachers for parents. Her father taught history, social studies, and reading; her mother taught math, science, and computers. Elizabeth went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Rhetoric with a Women's Studies minor. As a writer and editor, she deals in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Her main fields include speculative fiction, gender studies, and alternative religions. She also works with social issues and ethnic studies. Her work has been published in hundreds of different markets.
She is among the founding members of The Silk Road Allies, which began when she posted a prompt about China's embassy to Italy in the Poetry for the Masses project hosted by Stefanie Maclin (thesilentpoet). Elizabeth has since written several poems in The Silk Road Allies. She serves as the webcrafter for this project, maintaining the guide to canon content and other resources. Marina Bonomi (marina_bonomi)
Marina Bonomi was born in Verona, Italy and grew up in in a small town nearby. Her parents bear the responsibility of introducing her to books, art, history and geography from an early age, influences that ended up in Marina choosing a humanities-oriented high-school (with classes in classical Greek and Latin) and earning her university degree in Chinese Language and Culture. She now works as cultural mediator for China.
Marina is one of the founding members of The Silk Road Allies and is both a contributor and one of the moderators of the LiveJournal community silkroadallies. She is the first contributor to write bilingual poetry in this setting. She is a published poet and a student of origami. Her blog can be found on LiveJournal.

Stefanie Maclin (thesilentpoet)
Stefanie Maclin grew up among the relics of the Pequot War, eventually escaping to Boston, where she now lives among the relics of the Revolutionary War, Industrial Revolution, and a great many more 'Revolutions'. She has a B.A. in English/Creative Writing, and History. Her primary focuses were in British Literature and History, World War Two History and Women's History. She also has a M.S. in Library Science and Archives Management.
She is one of the founding members of The Silk Road Allies, having written a poem detailing the possible twist in history, where Italy accepts China's proposal for an embassy during a crowdfunded poetry project; she continues to serve as both contributor to the project
