Characters
Fans of the Aether Dancer open source steampunk show may create characters and produce material within that setting. They may film scenes, draft scripts, write fiction or other literature, create objects, or whatever else inspiration brings to light. As the core storyline appears in the Aether Dancer episodes, the main characters may mention fan characters by name or talk about their exploits.
Eventually the Aether Dancer website will host or link fanmade material so that viewers can follow the main characters' references to find the actual fan characters, scenes, stories, and other goodies.A forum is planned so that creative people can network with each other to connect their characters, find fan actors for a script, find writers to feature fan characters, and generally brainstorm ideas together.

Rule one for making a character in the Aether Dancer:
No time travelers. Time Traveling is messy and causes massive plot disruptions if handled poorly.
We MAY have something time related in the future, but for right now, if we don't have access to the timeline, neither does anyone else.
Rule 2 for making characters in the Aether Dancer:
No Aliens. Hyperdimensional or Extraterrestrial.
In this particular Steampunk setting humans will be strange and fantastical enough to warrant not needing to muddy the waters with having to explain a whole other race of beings.
Plus, like time travel at times aliens can be just a little too over the top and can be really bad for plots if not handled correctly.
