Serial Poetry
Some poems exist as part of a series. They feature recurring characters and/or settings, often with a common tone as well. Serial poetry therefore takes an initial idea and expands on it over time, rather like episodes in a television show. The Poetry Fishbowl and other projects have spawned a number of poetic series. This allows participants to inspire and sponsor new poems about a favorite protagonist or venue.

Shared Worlds
A "shared world" is a collaborative setting for original material. Writers, artists, musicians, crafters, filmmakers, and other creative people can all play in the same sandbox. This allows them to weave their storylines together if they wish, revisit favorite characters and locations, and enjoy a greater depth of worldbuilding than most solitary projects get. Some shared worlds are open source and people can do almost anything; others are proprietary with rules and some guiding hand(s).
I participate in several shared worlds, where I have varying levels of worldbuilding authority. Read more about them on the Shared Worlds page.
